Patron Saint of Pilgrims

« O Saint Roch, You who were a pilgrim in Europe, you who became sick with the plague and were unjustly imprisoned, you who cured the sick and brought human beings to God, we ask you to intercede for us before God and protect us from our miseries of body and soul. Amen.» Prayer to saint Roch

Born in Montpellier, France, in about 1300, his parents died and Roch decided to spend his life as a pilgrim. On the road, he gave away his fortune to the poor, and looked after many people suffering from the plague. He became the patron saint of pilgrims. His feast day is August 16th.
